‘Branded’ is to vie at Japan’s Short Shorts

Iranian short film ‘Branded’ has been named an official selection for the 2021 edition of Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan.

‘Branded’, directed by Fatemeh Mohammadi, will compete at the 23rd edition of the Japanese event, Iranian media outlets reported on Tuesday.

Written by Amir Roueeni, the film is about Hafiz, who decides to cross the Afghan border in order to save the life of a woman and her child.

The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia has been accredited by the Academy Awards and is one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia, according to the website of the event.

The annual gala takes place in June. It has been running since 1999.
